Calasorb is a combination of calcium lactate and Magnesium citrate in the calcium to magnesium Ratio of 5 to 1 (5:1), the proper ratio of noncellular calcium and magnesium as blood constituents as established by Principles of Biochemistry, White-Handler-Smith-Stetten,Edition 6, McGraw-Hill Book Company,Inc.,1959, page 632.
It is suggested that when calcium lactate supplementation be utilized over a period of time (a month or longer) it should be balanced in the 5:1 ratio with magnesium. Many formulas available today are in the 2:1 ratio. Over a period of time, the excess magnesium could disrupt the biochemical equilibrium between serum calcium and magnesium.
In human physiology , the two most basic forms of calcium are calcium phosphate and ionized calcium (free calcium as it occurs in the blood before utilized or incorporated into tissues).
Calcium phosphate is most important for healthy bones and teeth.
Ionized calcium is the form that remains in the bloodstream as calcium proteinate and calcium citrate.
If we have inadequate amount of ionizable calcium in our blood, then the immune system cells-the white blood cells involved in tissue repair, cannot do its work.
This is why people have fever---fever increases the body temperature to heat up bone and release ionized calcium from bone. That's why after several prolonged disease conditions, we have people whose teeth rot-decay -because, they lose calcium out of the enamel and they lose bone density from fever. So the fever is pulling the ionized calcium out of the bone to make it available to the white blood cell.
During fevers, infection , acute inflammation, etc, in order for the White blood cells to function efficiently, ionized calcium must be abundantly available. When the blood ionized calcium falls below 50 percent of normal, febrile seizures are experienced. (reference Textbook of Physiology, Zoethout and Tuttle, Edition 9,C.V. Mosby Company, page 435)
On page 434 of this textbook, it says "that animals deprived of Magnesium for just a few days become highly irritated and thrown into convulsions on the slightest disturbance."
The symptoms of a twitching or jerking of muscles indicates Hypocalcemia. Years ago the old family doctor would take a child or infant having febrile convulsions and dunk him in a tub of warm water. The symptoms subsided due to the heat of the water warming the bones and releasing ionized calcium into the bloodstream.
It has been discovered that, if a child/infant is having a fever, if you mash up some Calasorb capsules, as soon as the child has the child has enough calcium, the fever immediately goes down.
